Last night was "Buco" Night for the young moms that go to my church. I went for the first time and we actually didn't play the game, so I still don't know quite what it is or how it works. I did learn, by overhearing, that it takes 12 people and the use of dice.
And that I have simply the most incredible relationship in the world!!!
Now these are Christian ladies talking about their husbands, if they weren't, I bet it could have gotten ugly. As it was, everything was spoken in love, usually with a laugh or a fond smile. But it wasn't long before I felt rather left out . . . I just don't have anything to complain about!
"My husband is just terrible to shop with . . . ." - I don't have a bit of problem here. I like to browse occasionally, and J likes to spoil me occasionally. Other than that, let's get in and get out! And he pushes the cart. Who could ask for more?
"I'm trying to talk my husband into letting me have another, but it isn't going to happen." - this to me is so sad . . . . I'm very, very thankful I don't have this problem. That we are putting our faith in God for finances and the effort required to have a large family. Speaking from experience now (lol) I really don't have what it takes to raise Samuel! When I try to do things on my own strength, I fall apart from lack of sleep, constant nursing, ect. When I lean on the Everlasting Arms, God is my strength, God is my patience, God is my empowerment to be a wife and mom! Suddenly, I can do all things through Christ, be that wife, mom of one, or mom of three or more. God is good. He's not going to give me more than I can handle. Really!
"My husband encourages me to talk to my friends so he doesn't have to hear it." - Me and J talk. And then talk some more. And when we run out of things to talk about, we talk about how much we talk! If I don't talk alot, he usually tells me to go take a nap. He knows I'm tired!
"Wouldn't it be nice if our husbands held a baby this small [holding Samuel] and said, 'I'm ready for the next one!'" - Um, actually, J does that alot. He's never not said he doesn't want lots more, even when Samuel is covered in poo. Probably because I change him when that happens!
"I just have to get out of the house!" - It was funny, I told them all that this was the second time in two years that I hadn't spent the evening with J. The first time was at your bachelorette party, Kristina! Did you know that? J has made me several offers to let me "out of the house", like, to go shopping while he watches Samuel. It's just . . . not . . . appealing without him . . . . .
Well, it was fun. I just hope the topic isn't Little-Things-About-My-Husband-That-Bug-Me-Or-I-Would-Change next time! Then I can join in . . . .

Here is Espresso, who has taken it upon himself to be something of a guardian for Samuel when mommy isn't right there . . . .
